ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Dr. Stanley Malamed Dr. Jose-Luis Ruiz
Emergency Medicine Course Summary and Objectives
Medical emergencies can, and do, occur in the practice of dentistry. The occurrence of
cardiovascular problems, such as chest pain (angina and myocardial infarction) and
sudden cardiac arrest, are likely to increase with aging of our populations.
In this program Dr. Malamed addresses these problems and the means to prepare the
dental office to effectively recognize and manage those cardiac emergencies can, and do, arise. The use and importance of AEDs will be stressed.
Bring the entire office staff to this program. The life you save may be your own!
Learning Objectives:
(1) Describe the four steps in preparing the dental office for medical emergencies that
might arise.
(2) Describe the pathophysiology of angina pectoris and its management.
(3) Describe the pathophysiology of acute myocardial infarction and its management.
(4) Describe the pathophysiology of sudden cardiac arrest and its management.
(5) Describe the mechanism of action of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Porcelain Veneers & Smile Design Course Summary and Objectives
Porcelain veneers when performed correctly can yield exquisitely beautiful results with minimal tooth preparation, supra-gingival margins, predictable long lasting results with and minimal or no negative side effects; thus bringing great joy to both patients and clinician. Achieving consistent patient satisfaction requires more than good restorative principles, it also requires excellent communication with the patient, to understand their unique esthetic perspective and goals and then implement a system, to record this information and blend it with our own esthetic preferences and goals. Dr. Ruiz will present his practical, logical and scientifically based approach to incorporating all of this important component, which will virtually guarantee excellent results and patient satisfaction.
Learning Objectives:
-Understand how to record patients’ unique esthetic perspective and goals and how to blend it with our own.
-Understand how proper diagnosis and smile design dictates proper tooth preparation and restorative material selection.
-Simple preparation and cementation will be reviewed?
